Dispatches from the Illicit Underground, Hot Off the Presses

A few months ago, I was asked to tell a story about Downtown LA's underground activity—both literally and figuratively, particularly during the Prohibition period.

That story has just been published in the "DTLA Noir" chapter of DTLA Book 2018. To read it yourself, click the big image above or here.

The hardcover book will be distributed to a number of hotel rooms (like at the Freehand and the Los Angeles Athletic Club) and sold at brick and mortar retailers (like the Autry Museum, The Broad, and OUE Skyspace).

Or you can order a physical copy on Amazon.com—and not just for my story, but for the very good company I'm keeping with my fellow Angeleno writers Kim Cooper, Hadley Meares, and James Bartlett.
